Product Overview

  • Light Requirements

This is a medium light plant. It will do best in a bright location with mostly indirect light. This would be directly in front of a North or East facing window. It will also thrive 5ft-10ft removed from a West or South facing window.

Please note that obstructions can cause a considerable decrease in the available light. Windows facing other buildings or alleys, especially on the bottom floors, are particularly susceptible.

The surest way to see if your space receives the light required for an indoor plant is to take a light meter reading. Please see our Lighting Guide for instructions.

  • Plant Care

The Bird's Nest is the most hardy fern around! This plant that can tolerate lower light levels and less frequent waterings despite its sub tropical origins. It is an epiphytic plant that grows off trees and understory of the forest canopy.

    CARE LEVEL
    Easy.

    LIGHT REQUIREMENTS
Prefers bright light, but is adaptable to lower light conditions.

    WATER REQUIREMENTS
Be sure to water your plant upon delivery. Bird's Nest Ferns prefer a moderate amount of consistent moisture. Allow the top 1"-2" of the soil to dry between waterings. Do not let the soil dry out completely, while also being cautious not to over water, which can lead to root rot.

    HUMIDITY PREFERENCE
High humidity. Place your plant away from hot or cold air drafts. This plant appreciates misting. The broad leaves are dust collectors, and misting will help keep the leaves clean.
